Watch: All The BTS Moments You Can’t Afford To Miss From Davido’s GQ South Africa Shoot

Nigerian singer, Davido recently landed a feature with men’s magazine GQ South Africa. The afrobeat hitmaker talks to the publication about how he fell in love with music, the inspiration behind his new album- A Good Time, and having 100 million views on Youtube.

On Discovering His Passion For Music:

My mother loved music, every weekend she will tell us to invite friends to come over and bring the speakers outside the house and she would cook. Growing up I loved listening to hip-hop, I grew up listening to JaRule, 50Cent, Fat Joe, till I bought my first afrobeat album which was D’banj and Tatiana.

On The Takeaway From His Album:

Alot of things, but overall, I wanted people to have a good feeling listening to it, I didn’t want people listening to the album and be depressed. I wanted my album to uplift people.

On 100 Million Youtube Views:

It felt so good, one thing I don’t play with is my visuals, back in college even before I blew, I made sure all my visuals were always coming out good. So it was such a good impression.
